James124

Hello everyone, thank you for looking at my portfolio. I hope you'll find plenty to like here, it's a mixture of new with some reworked older photos. I try many different subjects from landscapes through urban & street photography to abstract, but not so much formal portraiture or studio work.
What I like about photography is that it's a continuos learning process, always something to discover and try out. I'm essentially self-taught and will shoot almost anything if in the mood.
Thanks for looking, and feel free to leave comments.

About

My first photos were taken with a Kodak Brownie 127 and an Instamatic during the '60s but I first started "serious" photography living abroad in the early seventies with a Pentax Spotmatic, first with slides then broadening to b&w especially after joining a camera club (Kingston, Surrey) on returning to England. I had some success in club competitons and exhibitions. Family and other commitments reduced my activity for many years until a few years ago, when we bought a Nikon D50 kit and later a Canon Ixus 980 to take on a trip to India. In 2013 I joined Photo Club Sarladais (Sarlat) here in France to get back to serious picture taking.
I now use a Nikon D750 with 24-85mm zoom and 50mm standard both Nikon, also occassionally a resurrected Tamron Adaptall 70-150 zoom. My snap-shooter is an iPhone 6s, but I'm also going get out the Canon again.
For editing I'm switching from Adobe LR & PS to DxO Photolab3/Nik Collection and Affinity

hope you are well - and being careful. On the eye graffiti I would take the black marks out one below the eye and one top right - they only serve as distractions.
ps . not been on ephoto for sometime because of shielding.

Thanks for your comment Jim. I think I've uploaded the wrong version; I have a square crop which loses the upper black marks but retains the lower one, which I quite like, but I do see your point.
