James124

Hello everyone, thank you for looking at my portfolio. I hope you'll find plenty to like here, it's a mixture of new with some reworked older photos. I try many different subjects from landscapes through urban & street photography to abstract, but not so much formal portraiture or studio work.
What I like about photography is that it's a continuos learning process, always something to discover and try out. I'm essentially self-taught and will shoot almost anything if in the mood.
Thanks for looking, and feel free to leave comments.

  • Variations on a theme by dudler

I have a preference for the b&w shots, Her face is a bit harsh in some of the colour shots (V2,V6), V11, V13 are better (in my opinion)

  • Time & Tide by Fefe

Lovely evening light, and a composition with a great sense of space (cropping the right side would lose this).

Quote:A very narrow field between the stone dykes, Bill. It does not very practicable for farming, was it for some other purpose? Good overall image, well composed.

    Looks like a drovers lane.....
    Nice fresh morning landscape, Bill

  • Posted on: Why It's Important To Lower Your Viewpoint When Taking Photos

    Good article, John.
I often kneel or get lower for shots, especially children, small animals and plants/flowers. The tilting screen on both my cameras is a boon for waist level and low POV shots, saving too much bending, crawling and laying on wet grass.

  • Posted on: Nik Collection 3 By DxO Review

The new module Perspective Efex looks like DxO viewpoint under another name. As I use DxO Photolab 3 rather than Lightroom (my Lightroom has become slow and unstable) allong with Viewpoint and Nik Collection 2 there seems for me little or nothing to gain from this upgrade.

Love your steam loco shots. I used to "train spot" at Basingstoke on what I believe was the last steam hauled main line in the country, so saw locos working properly and usually pretty grubby!
Your other photos are great too.
