Purely Elemental

By JamesAppleton
Sunset - the final ebb and flow of colour across the sky above Jokulsarlon - the Iceberg lagoon. I'd been waiting three days for some colour and light in the sky, and finally got it - not the best, but enough to work with. I composed with elemental purity in mind - nothing but water and air, and the fire in it.

Three minutes of exposure produced a wonderful result - the cool blues of the ice really lit up with the dying light and long shutter speed. The sky and a few lazy icebergs conveyed the sense of quiet movement, and I was pleased with this final result.

Enjoy!

James

Thanks all - glad it's getting views! Bob - you're right - as frustrating as this location is - there are always shots to be had - it's just a matter of waiting. You should know - having got perhaps the ultimate shot of the place...ever!!

Cheers,

James

I've been popping back to your p/f since I saw your Iceland shots, and I was wondering if you had any of Jokulsarlon... I'm glad to not be disappointed.

I was there last year - I drove through the night (and an awesomely frightening blizzard) from Reykjavik to get there. Nothing as good as this, but great to have the memories brought back...

I see lots of landscapes on here, this is truly outstanding, well worth the 3 day wait for the sky!
