Film Noir

By JamesFarley
Something I'd wanted to try out for quite a while, spent an evening at a studio up in Stockport giving different lighting techniques a go to recreate some classic 'Film Noir' type images.

Much more difficult than I first thought to get the lighting just right, and could have done with a few more props / time / ideas!

Really enjoyed giving it a go though and something I would like to try again soon, great way of learning about lighting.

You seem to have learned quite well
This is a really good attempt
The sense of threat from the man is amazing

I like you picture, at the gallery size I had only noticed the girl and I was drawn into it by the title.
Her facial expression and the holding of the hands doesn't provoke a sense of threat to me,

Artistically is right as a picture but you had been let down by your "actors".
I think a little bit of directive from you would make it stronger as a picture, even without the props.

A firmer holding of her wrist and a expression of surprise ior pain n her face my had provoked the threat/danger scenario. A smile in her face and a different positioning of his hand would have been another one. Think of the scenarios beforehand and note them down so you can execute them when the time comes.
