On Saturday I went up to Derwent Edge to photograph the heather at White Tor, a location I had pinned for a while now as I usually walked past to the Salt Cellar just a stones throw away.
I had spent the day agonising where to go, watching webcams and the clouds on satellite imagery, thinking I would go to the White Peak before the heather came out in force. In the end I made the right choice to go further north instead, the south was plagued with clear skies and the heather was more in bloom than expected.
The location itself was a tough one to photograph, the only clouds in the sky were in the direction of the sun, so it made sense to base my composition around this. Luckily with my height, I managed to get the elevation needed for my composition and in the end it was actually a really pleasant evening out.
