Still-life

By jamestheboy
Something new I have been messing about with I am not that happy with it. I will have a go at again in the future.
See the idea in this months digital photo magazine so I give it a goal and see what I could come up with.

What area aren't you happy with? To my eye it's lovely - the silhouettes are wonderful against that brilliant colour.

Nothing wrong as far as I can see, although it is an almost carbon copy of the original.
Try a little variation on the theme. A different coloured light, or change the "guard of honour" chess pieces or the central piece, for instance.
Keep experimenting until you're happy.

Can't see a lot wrong, pretty much as the mag shot
As above, just keep playing til you're happy with your own version

Excellent concept, well set up, the colours and lighting all work.

If you do re shoot, I would perhaps change the surface the chess pieces are on to a smooth flat surface, the lighting is highlighting the imperfections in the surface.

But very well done.

I photograph the chess pieces on normal table and I use a backdrop with a table lamp behind it
