The Control Building

By jan 1
from where they Survey and Maintain the installations at the Barriers.
The Government Department "Rijkswaterstaat",use a huge amount of money, of the total national butget for projects and maintenance of all the water flows in Holland.
Notice the 2 fishermans and the 25? racing cyclists.
I will upload in the mod. page, pics. from the road deck and a old pic. from the distaster of 1953.

Note: The rocks in f/g are at the beginning and end of each barrier (of 1 km) before the sections with the Latches starts.

Nice shot!
The small black area at the top left corner?

It is amazing how much work went into the building of the dykes. Great series and I like the old photo also.

Once again Jan, the scale is captured in this lovely shot. I really like the three shots in the mod section. The old photograph certainly tells a story. Excellent series Jan.

Thanks a lot friends, for the nice comments.
Hope I'm not boring you to much with this series.

Greg, I can asure you, the fish out there is from an excellent quality.
The main thing, they build the barriers with the latches, (seawater can come in and out) was to keep the environment of the Oosterschelde in the same condition as it was before. Its very famous for the Mussels.
As there is no poluted industry nearby, the area is very healthy.
In summer time, there are more German tourists than inhabitants. lol

To us speak much, that soon Holland will leave under water. But, owing to you Jean, we have understood, that it is impossible!
Thanks.
