    Kate Grin

Thanks Kate. I had wondered about that myself and you have made my mind up. J

Quote:Ubex, Jason? Good find, and having visited an abandoned sanatorium for the 'mad' from the early 1900's, and seen the state of the stairs up to the fifth floor, I can understand your reluctance.

    Malc

Not Ubex Malc - found by my friend "TheShaker" - but it is an abandoned sanitorium!

Quote:Is it my eyes (should have gone to SpecSavers!) or does the lighthouse need a very slight tweak clockwise?

    Malc

The lighthouse leans Malc - the horizon is straight. I was wondering about titling it the leaning lighthouse to avoid people thinking that - perhaps I should have!

  • Little Grebe

Quote:I remember the very first photo I ever took. Must have been 9 years old. We lived outside Chippenham and went to Slimbridge Nature Reserve for the day. Was so excited, a Brownie camera and a roll of 8 exposure B&W film. I took a duck with its head under water and arris in the air!

Is there such a thing as a medium or large grebe, Jason? If so how does one grade them, size-wise?Wink

The water - especially in the lead image - makes a perfect backdrop for the plumage.

    Malc
    sorry for waffling Blush

Not waffling Malc - itís good to remember back to the last century 😉. There is a Great Crested Grebe and itís about 3 times the size. There are other rarer Grebes with peculiar names so we wonít bother with them! J

    Quote:It's a Scarlet Peacock , Jason.

PS: Sorry, just noticed your comment, that you had it ID'd.

THIS is an excellent site for foreign butterflies. When you go into the site, scroll to the bottom and click on "Click here for more" and the scarlet peacock is in there.

Pamela - thank you very much indeed for that website which is going to be most helpful - I really appreciate that
