Beautiful Demoiselles Pairing Sequence

By jasonrwl
This is the sequence I promised showing the whole pairing - apologies for the number of images. Some are better than others but it all happened very quickly and I had no time to make any adjustments to camera settings.

v1 - the female is sitting there minding her own business but the male has spotted her
v2 - getting closer
v3 - almost on her
v4 - landing
v5 - he pins her down while manoeuvring his abdomen to get a grip on her
v6 - this is yesterday's image - almost got his hold
v7 - the grip established he starts to walk forward off her
v8 - he starts to flap his wings and effectively starts to lift her bodily
v9 - as above - as he lifts her she can start to curl her abdomen underneath her
v10, 11, 12 - as above
v13 - the coupling is completed

Thanks for looking

Amazing sequence, Jason. any one is good in its own right. V2 is my personal favourite; excellent in flight capture, very difficult.

Absolutely brilliant Jason, not only for the quality photgraphy
but also for understanding what we've seen - stand aside Mr Attenborough!
I think V6 is the best compostionally and it was on my shortlist yesterday - so maybe today
you'll get your award!
