St Michael's, Bowness-on-Solway

By jasonrwl
This is the interior of St Michael's church in Bowness-on-Solway which is the start point (or finish!) for the Hadrian's Wall Path. The church dates from the 12th Century and is largely built of stone taken from the Roman Wall and the large Roman fort (Maia) which stood on the site of the present day village.

This image is a composite of 3 different exposures put together in layers.

Thanks for looking
Jason

Thanks Nigel - I didn't actually use HDR on this just put the correctly exposed bits together in layers.

Not sure I understand the difference but the result is a beautifully exposed interior, Jason.

That's probably me not understanding HDR then! I have HDR software that puts differently exposed images together (not very well when I do it) and I thought that was what HDR was. I have done this myself but I suppose on reflection it is actually effectively the same thing. Just a senior moment I suspect!

Morning Jason you have made a really good job of this, wonderfully detailed and without the harshness of some HDR software packages. Very nice indeed.

You're certainly showing us your varied camera skills this week, from puffins, to sunrises
and now a stunning church interior very well blended together with no burn out or flare.
