Brake Shoe

A simple brake on an old colliery wagon at Tanfield Railway, Co. Durham. On a pivot, a lever was dropped, and the wooden brake swung up and with a bit of luck slowed of stopped the wagon

I once owned a Land Rover with brakes as efficient as that Blush
