Photo taken in Northampton main shopping street. Statue to celebrate Francis Crick who found the Double Helix structure of DNA. Nobel Prize 1962. Order of Merit 1991.
The statue itself is very imposing, but is the photographic depiction of it a good photo in its own right? I like the comp except forthe niggle thatmaybe I'd have liked you to have included a bit more below the junction of the two elments.
Think a pic like this stands or falls on the composition and then the lighting. The lighting is quite nice, though the whole thing comes across a little bit flat - try playing around a bit with contrast, or better still apply a curve to just lift it a bit with more control

Thanks Stephen, your comments are very helpful. I am just begininmg to use Photoshop elements 4 and have a lot to learn.I cropped the pic to remove the street scene below the crop which perhaps distracts from the statue.
