heron #2

By jdh2
Thanks to all for comments on my last bird upload. Sorry for the mis identification. My knowledge of birds is obviously not very good. This is another shot taken from a plantation marsh in South Carolina. Nidon D-300, f8, 1/500 sec , 70-300, @ 300mm. This bird was in nature preserve. I was in a flat bottom boat and snapped this as I passed around a turn. I could not compose any better and did not alter or crop. Shot from a pretty far distance because I was afraid I would spook it at any time. I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed shooting it. Jerry

Like to see it in its natural habitation. Would hate to have its neck.

Excellent Jerry, nice to see the bird in the wildlife. We have also a reservation for migratory birds located in Candaba Pampanga, Northern part of Luzon island not far away from the capital city of the Philippines.

Jerry, I am starting to see a remarkable improvement in your shots, particularly the focusing, looks like your really getting to grips with the D300 now.

Well caught. The lens on my bee is a sigma 105. Been on holiday so hence the late reply.
