Glen Etive 2 (square)

OK, Sorry to bore you.....

I have taken on board some suggestions with regards my last upload;- I removed some of the bottom of the image but the also removed some sky to balance the picture - ended up as a square crop. Also altered the contrast a bit... and had a bit of a play with the water..

So - the question is - Is it better, or not?

yup i think this shot is better in the other the eye is drawn to the black water at the bottom of the shot .it is still a good shot this one is more fluid.

Both are stunning images, this brings out the drama of the scene more than the portrait version, because of the crop to the water.

Better, much better!!!

The crop takes away some of the 'open-ness' of the original and makes for a much tighter composition. Fabulous stuff Jeanie.

think this creates a stronger atmosphere than the previous one and the mist has more impact on the scene

A square crop can work really well if you fill it well, like this, which is excellent. I love the mist and the way it is kind of mirrored in the milky water.

Much prefer this one to the other, plenty of atmosphere and detail. Didn't like the empty spaces on the other, even though they balanced each other.

Different league! I was very impressed with yesterdays upload but this blows it away. The water is lovely and really captures the feeling of movement as well as retaining more detail.

Jeanie!! Congratulations on the EC!!!! And well deserved too - what a scene. The mountains look magnificent especially with that cloud/mist swirling round and the composition leads the eye round and down over the edge - eek! Beautifully soft and muted colours - beautifully done.
