The lifebuoy makes the shot work.

Great light, but the life ring makes this for me. Since it's the undisputed focal point of this image, maybe it could use a bit more light because the far side is quite dark - spot of fill flash or a reflector?!

Personally speaking a simpler border would have been a better choice.....as far as the image itself is concerned, can't fault it. Well done.

Nice atmosphere Trevor and the red of the lifebuoy has good contrasting values...love those grassy sand compositions.
