Painting With Light.

By jellylegs
Hi. I needed some pictures for my local camera club comp on "Light", & I've some stiff competition from Paul's (pacman) entry so I took this one. I saw this done before, so I don't claim originality for the thought.

There is no digital manipulation here.

This was taken in a comletely dark room, using a mag-lite to "paint" on a white sheet of mount-card. I had many, many attempts, but I like this one.

I focused first with the lights on, then switched to manual & turned out the lights. I used a bit of tin foil around the mag-lite to narrow the beam. I used a variety of "strokes", with some up high to light the canvas & some down low to draw the streaks.

I shot in camera raw & applied only a blue tint in the raw converter.

Details: 13 secs @ f8. RAW @ 400 iso.

I hope you like.

As usual, all comments welcome. Thanks for looking,

Very unusual and well executed - would look great in a brushed chrome frame. Thanks for letting us know how you did it.

Great idea and perfect realization. Must be difficult to have the different streaks coincide.
