I love these hardy flowers and the colors are so vibrant, did you cature this at night or against a backdrop?

Nicely presented Jen, not sure about the Red border though, I find it a little overpowering for the flower. Keep it up though, your photo's are getting better and better! May be time to invest in a prime Macro lens if you can get one! If you can get one, Nikon have a nice new VR IS Macro lens out! Not cheap though! Personally a Sigma 105mm Macro lens is good! Should be around 400 US Dollars I would guess!

Keep at it!

Hi Jen, another good attempt and I can see improvements in your shots. I agree with Shaun that if you are going to concentrate on flower and other macro shots then it is better to get a proper Macro lens. I have the Sigma 105mm Shaun mentions and it is a great lens for close ups and also a superb portrait lens. Regarding this composition I think it would have been improved if the leaf on the left had not been cropped off. In addition, I notice the file size is only about 56K and I would advise you to use the maximum amount allowable. Keep at it and you will soon get there. Well done. CLIK.
