In the park again this afternoon and I was faced with one of those unmissable shots where a subject, in this case a squirrel, sidled up and stopped about three feet behind the bench where I was sitting.
Nothing really new there but everything else was right as well. The sun had just re-appeared and was shining down on one side of him. There was sufficient cloud that it wasn't causing a shadow, he had sat up on his haunches and was looking quizzically at me, not unlike a character in a Disney cartoon.
I took up my camera, raised it and leaned it on the back of the bench, popped up the flash (I hadn't got my proper one), composed, focused . . .
. . . and the dog jumped up onto the bench!

The squirrel fled.

So I got a shot of the dog instead.

I thought i was going to have to be the one to explain to you that this is not a squirrel.
