Jimmy exudes happiness, Border Collies are fab dawgs and thats from a cat fan.....
Its a pity the whites in the fur are blown here & there, Probably down to being shot in very bright sunlight....!
Next time try dialling in a little underesposure say around 2/3rds, Maybe even use the " Centre Weighted " metering option, Or Spot meter, I mention this because we often have the same problem with our 2 collies, As well as the 2 black moggies, We also shoot in RAW this allows for more post shoot adjustments with such things as exposure & white balance.
All that said it takes nothing away from your supadawg shot.....

)
Just waiting for the next sunny day to try again,it was taken Sunday afternoon & the weather with us was glorious.
I would like to say to both Vince & Linda, your comments about Jim are absoloutely spot on !
He is such a loving,happy dog so I am pleased you can see that just from a photo.
Thanks for the comments.

Gorgeous dog. You are going to have some great photos from him. Though I always complain about my black and white dog (can never get both black and white areas right!) so keep saying I'm going to trade him in for a tan dog that I won't have any exposure problems with.
Look forward to seeing more of Jim.

I will echo some of Vince's sentiments(Cameracat), but also if not shooting fully manual, then why not shoot in aperture priority and dial in whatever (ISO Setting/Compensation, but not more than -2/3rds say) to achieve a decent shutter speed.
My main subject is wildlife & most of it is shot this way
