  • Commented on 'canon / nikon'

I was watching winterwatch last night and noticed Gordon buchanan was using a Nikon d800 body with a canon
    large prime lens.
just wondering why and would he have had to get an adaptor specialy made.

I took delivery of my 7100 on Tuesday and so far so good.
I bought the package with the 18-105 lens as the offer was to good to refuse.
obviously coming from canon its taking a we while to learn the different controls and menus.
so roll on this weekend as I am off to glen etive for a couple of days of happy snapping.

the switch on the back is on
when in manual the top controler changes the aperture and the back controler the shutter speed
i think somewhere in the menu i can change the functions of the top and back controlers
i will take it into jessops and see what they say
i dont fancy not having the 7d over the holidays

the 7d power switch is either on or off and the mode is in av
there is definatley a problem with the main controler as it is not changing the iso either
its still under warranty so back to jessops tomorrow

dose not work at any apertures ( having to change the aperture on the q screen)
also in manual mode none of the wheels change the shutter speed or aperture.

postman has just delivered the think tank

i does take the 7d and 100-400 with hood
the bag has an extendable portion at the bottom of the holster which un zips to allow the camera/lens to fit.
only down side is that the bag is tight with the grip on the 7d.
i will see how it is in the real world

according to the spec it should take the camera lens set up with the hood attached.

when it arrives i will give an update

i took the plunge and bought the tamron
so far very pleased, very sharp at all distances, compact size, good build quality (on par with the canon)
and the deal included a pair of binoculars
    very pleased

    hi all
how does the new tamron 18-270 compare with the canon 18-200

i have the canon 18-200 which i use as my walkabout and iam very happy with performance
but i have had it a few years and the zoom creep is geting terrible and it has more dust in side than the sahara desert
i dont know if i should go for an other canon or the tamron

    thanks in advance

i know all about the differences in specification etc but does it have a big leap in picture quality and iso quality
i will be using the same lenses as i have used on the 40d 17-40L, 70-300L and15-85

Took delivery at the week end of the canon 15-85 and so far very pleased
Nice and wide for landscapes and very easy to use around the grand kids eg fast and quiet focusing
    Also nice and sharp.
With this lens and the 70-300 L I shouldn't need another lens Wink

i have a canon18-200 and most of the time if the light is good i takes nice images but i was looking for something a bit faster.
what about the tamron 17-50 or sigma 17-70
any one have experience with these lens

    hi
    thanks for the input
i have been able to use a tamron 70-300 sp (latest model) and i have had good results.
obviously not as well built as the canon but a third of the price as for the image quality the tamron to my eyes is good.
the problem i have is trying to get a hold of a canon even to handle never mind use and at 1200 to buy it could be a costly mistake.
