Jokulsarlon Iceberg Lagoon

By jinstone
The Jokulsarlon Iceberg Lagoon is on Route 1 on the southern coast of Iceland. I think I could quite happily spend days here as the icebergs and light are constantly changing. Keep an eye out for the changing tides as a) at low tide the icebergs move closer to the exit channel under the bridge, only smaller icebergs make it out though and b) on n incoming tide where the channel of water and enters the lagoon a tremendous wealth of bird and sea life feeding where the salt water meets the fresh water. Seals skewers and multiple varieties of gulls.

Lovely shot - it rained all the time I was in Iceland and we didn't visit this area sadly. Thank you for sharing.

Go back and visit again Smile
I'm afraid it does have a tendency to rain a lot. Went to Geysir and it was so wet I took three photos and drive on.
