Yesterday was a glorious day for walks as the countryside is at its peak at the moment with very beautiful vivid colours. This is another view on Avening from a different hill from my previous uploads.
"Avening is a large village perched on a steep hillside of the Gloucestershire Avon. Formerly a cloth-making centre, the village became prosperous during the period of the Cotswold wool trade & mills continued to produce cloth late into the twentieth century. There have been settlements in or around the village for thousands of years & several burial chambers are situated within walking distance of the village.
The village church is the only church in Britain to be built by a Queen. Dedicated to the Holy Rood, the church was consecrated in the presence of Queen Matilda in 1080." (www.thecotswoldgateway.co.uk/villages_avening)
The shot was taken late in the afternoon when the light is still strong and the autumn colours come alight. (f16 1/40th sec natural light, zoom at 42mm, use of Photoflitre just a touch)
