HUONG GIANG

By JN_CHATELAIN_PHOTOGRAPHY
The name Perfume River conjures up romantic images.

The descriptions in guides also make you dream: "The Perfume River is beautiful sight from its source as it winds among mountains and through thick forests bringing with it fragrances of tropical flora. The river snakes through the verdant and shady villages... and mingles with the odors of the flowers of Huế ... The river with its shimmering, blue, limpid colour is like a pearl in the sun.... " (Wikipedia)

Seeing it on a rainy day is another image of tranquil beauty full of charms. The boats which you pass when travelling up or down the river bring you to back to the harsh reality of the Vietnamese people who are working really hard, day after day in all weather, to bring to the surface some sand laying at the bottom of the river.
They will not get a great financial reward for their efforts but they will work tirelessly on the river. This changes the idea of the romantic river.

The photo was taken on a grey and rainy morning (f14 1/250th sec zoom at 21mm
crop + Photofiltre just a touch)
