MINH MANG'S MAUSOLEUM

By JN_CHATELAIN_PHOTOGRAPHY
Thank you for your comments on my photos taken on the Perfume river. The boat trip on the river was to take me to the tomb of Emperor Minh Mang about 12km from Hue, on Cam Ke mount, on the west bank of the Perfume River.

As all Emperors before him, Minh Mang was buried near Hue (the ancient capital) in a tomb which is more like a palace: there are 40 buildings: palaces, temples, pavilions, a crescent shape lake (Tan Nguyet or New Moon), three bridges etc). It was built from 1840 to 1843. The Emperor did not see the finished work as he passed away in 1841.

To reach the tomb from the Perfume river you follow a path through the jungle. Even in the rain I enjoyed the walk as I had never been in such environment before.

The buildings forming the tomb compound are beautiful and the atmosphere was very romantic and peaceful.

As usual I appreciate your comments, critique or advice.

Beautiful shot Jean, thoroughly enchanting. I have visited Vietnam only once, it's a beautiful country, full of wonderful smiling people (and the food; sigh...). I must make an effort to go back and spend more time there.

A wonderful set of images, Jean-Noel. What amazes me is that you manage to capture these wonderful shots with no-one else in view! Carol
Travelling in February is a sure way not to be bothered by the crowd. There were a few people visiting but I waited for them to move away. JNC
