PO KLONG ARAI TOWERS

By JN_CHATELAIN_PHOTOGRAPHY
Continuing the journey North towards Nha Trang, about seven kilometers of Phan Rang in the Ninh Thuan Province, you will find the Poklongarai Towers. They were built around the end of the 13th century and the beginning of the 14th century.

The towers are located on Trau Hill in the Do Vinh District of Phan Rang. They were built to worship King Poklongarai (1152-1205). He had done a lot for the Cham people especially the construction of the local irrigation system. This architectural complex contains three towers: the Main Tower, the Gate Tower and the Fire Tower.

The Poklongarai Towers continue to play an important role in the spiritual and religious life of the Cham people living in this area. Every year, there is an important festival at the towers to commemorate the King.

Thank you for your thoughts on my last up-load. Hoping you will like these fascinating towers.

Have a nice evening,
Jean-NoŽl
