THE CATCH

By JN_CHATELAIN_PHOTOGRAPHY
My previous two up-loads (“Mui Ne”, “First Light” and “Pulling the Nets”) were about the hard work of Vietnamese fishermen on the beach of Mui Ne to pull their net out of the sea. Today, it’s about the rewards from their labour.

While they were pulling the nets, they did not speak to each other. Once they could see what they caught, the tension seemed to stop and there was a lot of chattering and excitement. Judging by their faces they were happy and satisfied.

In my ignorance/wishful thinking, I had imagined they would bring a lot more fish on the beach. All the people who were involved shared the catch and went away in a matter of a few minutes. As I walked back to my hotel, I could see many other groups of people in the process of pulling their nets or busy tidying them up, repairing them and carrying them to the boats so they could be ready for the next time they go fishing. Tomorrow, I’ll post more photos of this fascinating beach.

Thank you for your comments and support. Such a nice feeling to have many people interested in seeing different aspects of Vietnam.

I chose the young woman as V1 as I had seen her pulling those cables while I was taking photos but her face was hidden by her scarf all the while. She also had to be V1 as she’s so pretty and you can see the catch of that morning. The other versions are photos of the last stages and the different members of the family (I guess they were a family).

Let me know what you think. Thank you for stopping by.

Have a nice day,
Jean-Noël

I like the cropped version you have done of the lady in V1, as you say she's so pretty.
Another wonderful set of well detailed images.
I may not always have the time to make comments, but I am thoroughly enjoying the series JeanNoel.

A lovely series of shots again JeanNoel, like you I thought after all that work the reward would be plenty and was almost disappointed to see how many fish they got, I do like V1 but V6 takes the biscuit - to have a brilliant smile like that after you've worked so hard and the catch wasn't great, just keeps me humble. Super shots Jean Noel, most of all I like #10, a great portrait.
The rewards doesn't seem abundant to me, if you think of the number of poeple involved. but I am sure they are more contented than many people here.
