Lots of thanks for your comments on yesterday's upload. It's great most of you liked V4. It's so hard to chose the "right" version and it's great fun to see your reaction.

In the hamlet of Dai Quang, I was attracted by a very nice flower near a lovely garden. As I was taking photos the owner of the garden got curious of what I was doing and came towards me. Thanks to my Vietnamese friend I was able to talk to her and ask to take her photo. She was very pleased and posed for me.

Later she invited us in her house for a cup of tea and some delicious ginger sweets. I was very excited to see inside a Vietnamese house and to have a personal contact. One of her neighbour dropped by with her great grand-son who was afraid of me as I was speaking a strange language.

I hope you like these two lovely dignified old ladies. They had a tough life, were quite poor but so nice and keen to find out about what I was doing in Vietnam. This warmth and friendliness I experienced many times during my trip there.

great picture. Liked the B&W versions but they would benefit from a bit of contrast

My head says b&w. My heart says colour, for the cheerful warmth of the reds.

Very pleased you like this old lady and her friend. Very pleased as well as I normally do not do portrait or people.
In Vietnam I was fascinated by the beauty of the people and found them very photogenic.
