VIETNAM 2013 #108

By JN_CHATELAIN_PHOTOGRAPHY
Continuing the series about a boat trip along the waterways in U Minh Thuong National Park in Vietnam’s far South. I was surprised to see quite a few people standing motionless under the hard beating sun, on their small boats and fishing.

People will come from Ho Chi Minh City 365km away in order to escape from the bustle of city life and enjoy the primitive cajeput forest and listen to the various bird songs and insect chirps before being interrupted by the loud noise of a motor boat. They hope to catch a very big snakefish. Some can reach a length of about 1 m (3 ft 3).

VND40,000 (£1,20/USD1,90) is the price for admission to the fishing grounds. The rod and bait are included in the price! Apparently, every weekend, hundreds of anglers flock to the Park. It costs VND30,000 to hire (£0,90/ USD 1,40) a small boat for a day.

Three very well observed, composed, exposed and photographed images with huge appeal. I particularly like image number one, a great point of view and a very fine composition.
