VIETNAM 2013 #166

By JN_CHATELAIN_PHOTOGRAPHY
Taken in a tea plantation near Bao Loc a town in the Central Highlands, 80 miles (130 km) North of Ho Chi Minh City. The Lam Dong Province has been growing tea since the 1930s. The French started the tea plantations in the region and exploited them for their own consumption and for export.

ďBíLaoĒ is another name for this region and is famous for its tea brands: Tram Anh, Tam Chau, Rong Vang, and Ngoc Trang. Now the tea makers are Vietnamese and they pride themselves of the unique taste and quality of BíLao tea.

ďEach kind of BíLao Tea has its own taste and is made with a specific secret. Quoc Thai Tea is as sweet-smelling as jasmine, while Do Huu and Kim Anh are as sweet-smelling as cholorantus (a small white flower with a pleasant fragrance). Though produced in different ways, Bílao tea has the same characteristics, sweet and fragrant.Ē according to Vu Xuan Vinh, owner of Quoc Thai Tea Brand has been in the tea industry for 40 years.

A huge thank you to Richard Shuttleworth (Dickspics) for his User Award.

Beautiful set, especially V1&2. I often drink Vietamese green tea; nice to see where it comes from Smile

I think you should post under 'photojournalism' as well, as your sets always tell such a good story and the write ups are so interesting. Thank you.
