VIETNAM 2013 #79

By JN_CHATELAIN_PHOTOGRAPHY
Mui Ca Mau (8 37'30 north latitude, 104 43' east longitude) is the southernmost point of Vietnam where the South China Sea meets the Gulf of Thailand.

Nothing spectacular but a great feeling to be at the very tip of Vietnam when two years previously, I went to the Lung Cu, the northernmost village near the border with China (V3 and V4).
For personal reasons, Ive always wanted to visit Vietnam but had to wait a long time to do it. I never ever dreamt that I would have traveled the full full length of this amazing country. It four trips to achieves this and hopefully, it will not my last trip to Vietnam.

To get to Cape Mui Ca Mau, it took 2 hours1/2 by speed boat, then about 10 minutes on the back of a motorbike and a few minutes walk to reach the muddy shores. There were just a few Vietnamese tourists in early March who were surprised and very pleased to see a Westerner walking along the Cong Ca Mau jetty.

V1 is a view of the Gulf of Thailand with a mangrove to the right.
V2 is the boat shape monument marking the latitude and longitude of the cape.

Some of your previous images have inspired me to purchase a basket made in Viet Nam-- something that would have carried vegetables to market--

Some beautiful images in this set!
