VIETNAM 2013 #8

By JN_CHATELAIN_PHOTOGRAPHY
While walking along the narrow lanes of Thoi Son village, I was amazed to see this beautiful yellow flower with long stamen. Itís an Ochna integerrima ( in Vietnamese : hoa mai or hoŗng mai ). It is a tree species of the Ochnaceae family.

Those spectacular yellow flowers are very popular in Southern Vietnam. Branches or small trees are bought during "Tết" ( the traditional Vietnamese New Year).

This is going to be my last up-load for a little while. Iím off to dance with crocodiles in the billabongs of the Kimberley in the north of Western Australia.

The Vietnam series will continue when Iím back.

Fine detail in these images, Jean-Noel. Enjoy the Kimberleys. Our two daughters have just left there and are en route to Broome now.

These are wonderfully photographed.
You certainly have wonderful opportunities to travel and share the world with us.
While you're in the Kimberly, see if you can find some of the fossils and ancient geology that it is there. I think I saw some aboriginal stone paintings shown in that article, too.
Bon Voyage.....and lucky you.
