A huge THANK YOU to Carol (CarolG),Lynne (Drighlynne) and Helen (HelenMarie) for their User Awards yesterday.

The koala is an arboreal herbivorous marsupial native to Australia, found in coastal areas of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland.

This series of photos was taken on Raymond Island (a small island in the Gippsland Lakes in eastern Victoria, Australia (about 300 km/190 miles from Melbourne) where koalas live in the wild.

Koalas are largely sedentary animals and sleep up to 20 hours a day so it was a real treat to see one running towards me. He wasn’t scared. He was running at first, then slowed down, stopped for a short time and looked at me before climbing up a tree.
