William Ricketts Sanctuary is situated in in the Dandenong Ranges about 35 km (22 mi) from Melbourne. Itís a place to visit if you're keen on
William Rickettsís work. He was an Australian potter and sculptor born in 1898. He belonged to the the arts and crafts movement. He settled permanently in Mount Dandenong, in 1934 and died in 1993.

His sculptures are half hidden among ferns. He was very influenced by Aboriginal spirituality and had respect for the natural world. He was not an Aboriginal by blood but considered himself adopted by the Pitjantjatjara nation.

I was most impressed by the trees ferns growing on the slopes of Mt Dandenong.
