A Whale of a Problem

By Jocelia
650 plus water bottle went into making this Whale Shark sculpture to create awareness of the detrimental
effects plastic pollution has on the marine ecosystem. Thereís nothing as magical as the underwater world
though I donít snorkle anymore unfortunately, itís unbearable to imagine future generations wonít be able
to experience pristine life benearth the sea due to our littering and failure to act.
This sculpture was made by Lucy Badderly from Presbyterian Ladies College and was displayed in a cafe
as it is NOT touch friendly and could have caused pollution if blown away on the beach.
I thought it might have that SILLY SUNDAY air about it.
Have a great day....

Whale, I'll be!!! Grin Great piece of artwork here Jocelia - it reminds me of when I was away on holiday for Christmas 2012 in north Wales (no pun intended!), we visited a village called Betws-y-Coed, and outside a shop was a large Christmas tree constructed with clear plastic bottle just like these! See my upload Welsh Christmas Tree. Two fine captures, but go for the lead image as my fave Smile

I went to a "Paradise Island" in India two years ago and for snorkeling... never again... The sea bottom was full of cans and plastic bottles... So sad what we do to the ocean...
So I am all for using it to make a fine sculpture like this...
