This Red Earth

By Jocelia
The grey skies took over in these pix but the temperatures would be in the mid to high 30s
THanks for allyour comments and views on yesterdays landscapes all most appriciated as usual.
One really does have to pack for a special journey like this even for an air drop on fuel at a pick up point.
Paid for in advance by the way.
Maintence checks are carried out daily. Food prepared under the best hygienic methods possible. Washing
and showers from the water wells along the track if possible. Some wells are in good use where many have
collapsed so one has to follow on to the next available where nessasary.
The pictures picked out for today just show our red and barren this part of the track can be.
The last two show there are a few big trees growing to the full as the water table is only twenty to thirty feet below the surface. They are what the Nobs call aquifers that can produce sparkling drinking water. Who would have thought it though when many of the explorers died from thirst on their expeditions.
Have a great day everyone, will try to get comments to you later in my day.

So very dry looking. V10 is lovely and must be great to see after such desolate miles. A super and very interesting set Jocelia.

We've had a wonderful adventure with your varied sets of images Jocelia.
A trip not for the faint hearted but very memorable I'll bet.
It is hard to imagine how anybody can get water in these dry conditions.
Trees are such a welcome sight in those long tracks of bush.
The red soil is fascinating - does it produce minerals?
