Australian Wedge Tail Eagle

By Joeblowfromoz
Hi there folks, another day, another grey day here, starting to get use to it, but not got weather for photography.

This is another from the reptile park, and this is 'Oswald' a rescued Wedge Tail Eagle. Been at the park for many years.
These are Australia's largest air birds, and this is probably not the best of images, as it was taken through a wire mesh fence and taken at the high time of day, when the sun is at it's brightest, makes for hard photography.

Many thanks for all the wonderful comments and votes for my previous uploads. I am just stoked by the support you have all given me.

This will be a last upload for a few days, as we are heading out for a couple of days and look forward to catching up with you all when we get back.

Cheers

Jo

I was going to upload a second version of this, which I had worked on the background, but EPZ is just being so slow for me.

Great close-up Jo. That beak looks like it could tear its prey apart in a second. ............Sandy

Yes, that's the time of day best avoided, Jo, the light being so harsh, but despite that handicap you have come away with a most satisfactory record of Oswald, who also looks a bit limp with the heatWink

Harsh light but it picks out a lovely brown on the back of the neck. You've got a good, interesting composition/pose set against a colourful and contrasting bg, pretty good image, Jo, despite the conditions.

Thanks Dave - I will try that - I have another version in which I have burnt the background out, but the net was so slow this morning that I gave up trying to up load it.

Thanks for all the great comments everyone. Not sure whether we will be going away or not as the weather has turned really horrible - probably cause old Queenie is here lol...she bought the weather with her.
