Old Telegraph Station

By Joeblowfromoz
This is the old Telegraph Station a Eucla, along the Nullabor Plains, a bit of a drive to get down there, but well worth the visit. The old station was built in 1827 and served as part of the overland telegraph service to Australia until 1927, and now just the remains are found, buried under sand.

Seems almost ironic with the death of Steve Jobs, and all he has done for communications in this world, that this was one of the earliest forms of communication.

Thankyou to everyone for the absolutely overwhelming response to Ripples In The Sand, just never expected that sort of a response and I am most grateful to you all.

And yes - we do live the most idyllic lifestyle, and we just love it.

Hope you all have something great planned for the weekend- we have to wash and polish this rig for the big motorhome rally we go to on Monday - Any volunteers lol ???
May not have too much internet next week, but will see what happens.

Cheers Jo

A very nice crisp documentary shot, with obvious evidence of reclamation by the desert sands, Jo.
Sure, I'd have been delighted to bring along my bucket and spongeSmile but by the time I got there the rally would be over, sorrySad

Hi Jo, interesting photo, i have been here on numerous occasions over the past 45 years ,never seen this much of it uncovered, interestingly that you put it up as my grandfather used to be one of the teleg's there, did you know it actually straddles the boarder, telegrams from W.A were passed thru a window to the S.A side, and then sent on from there.
