Port Lincoln Parrot

By Joeblowfromoz
These are some of the beautiful parrots that frequent the area around here. Very much ground dwellers for the seeds in the grasses.

Just something by the way - many people have the white cockatoos and galahs as pets, and they are taught to talk quite easily. Just recently there was an article in the paper about how flocks of wild birds are now talking and they believe that it is due to 'pet' birds escaping, or being let go, and joing flocks and teaching their new buddies to talk. We experienced this the other day, when out walking and saw a few white cockies on a fence, and as we do, talked to them, and believe it or not, they answered us back!!!

Thanks again everyone for you comments and votes - Weekend coming up - so have a good one..

Cheers

Jo

The range of colours in the plumage is considerable: a beautiful parrot, very well captured.
And your comments re. wild birds talking is fascinating.

Hello dear friend, I do agree with Ronnie...

Samar..
Very nice capture of a very destructive and noisy bird when in the bush. But also a very beautiful bird. Well done. WesternRed.

How interesting that these birds in the wild have taught other birds to talk. What a beautiful image you've taken of this parrot Jo............Sandy

Super image Jo, what can I say that hasn't already been said? You've tickled me though with your fact about flocks of talking birds, the imagination runs riot. Another great capture!

Beautiful coloured plumage - I think I might find it a bit disconcerting if a wild bird talked back at meSmileSmile Carole

What a fascinating write-up! I think I'd worry about my sanity if I heard any of the birds in the UK talking to me!! Wink It's amazing how much pet shops charge for cockatoos over here - hundreds of pounds - when they are roaming (and talking) free over there!
Anyway, back to the shot - superb! Those colours are just something else!
