Most of the rocks on the island are black lava rocks, others are red/orange, as they are made up of volcanic iron rich dust, I now know why locally they call it "the red dirt" as once it gets on your clothes its almost impossible to wash it off! There is even a local company called Red Dirt shirts, that specialise in t shirts dyed in the stuff!
