Attraction Engine

By JohnEW
An attraction at the Galmpton fair is this traction engine, photographed here at this year's Gooseberry Pie fair which we travelled down to visit specially, having enjoyed it so much last year. It's also packed with photo-opportunities! Here, I tried to avoid a standard "record" shot of the old engine (which was actually running, although you can't tell from this crop). I have tried to make a play of the colours, shapes & textures - a bit of (albeit functional) industrial sculpture? Smile. Multiple conversion RAW 1/180 f/6.7 ISO200

From the days when heavy engineering meant heavy.
It's a lovely study in form and colour. But what I appreciate is that the machine is obviously loved, cherished and polished, but still made to work occasionally for its living.
Really satisfying shot.

A fabulous image; I love these old engines, and this looks to be a particularly fine example enhanced by your photography.

The colur red is an attractive eyecatching one and emphasises to me, at least, the power of the engine. Well taken.
