Fleetwith Pike II

By JohnEW
Another one taken early autumn last year, looking towards the head of Buttermere lake. Buttermere Fell is on the left & Fleetwith Pike on the right (this time showing more of the fell). I've monkeyed around with Photomatix again to try to make the best of the contrasts between sunlit patches & shade. This one has a little more foreground than the previous shot. 18mm f/9 1/320 ISO200

Oh wow... Fantastic shot. I'm curious as to just how much you've 'monkeyed around', there's detail here that I've never noticed and it all seems a bit too good to be true. But who's complaining? Beautiful image, encapsulating everything the Lakes represent.

Wonderful colours. Fleetwith Pike really stands out.

Up there in a weeks time, whats the betting it rains all week? I'd be happy with just one shot as good as this.

I love it, I think the pool in the foreground make the complete picture.

Thanks everyone for c&C!

Neil, I'm envious, Manchester is just too far away!

Moira, all the detail is there in the RAW, Photomatix just allows one to exploit (& exaggerate) it a bit. I thought I was being quite restrained with this one! Wink

I do admit to removing one or two bits of rubbish (really shouldn't have to do that - sign of a declining civilisation...). Also, some patches of blue sky were replaced with cloud (something the purists would never forgive me for). With landscapes, I normally do not replace skies, but this just looked wrong (the sky in the previous Fleetwith Pike shot was not altered other than levels adjustments & I wanted the same effect).

Tony, good luck with the weather!

Well at the end of the day what ever you have or have not done it's a fine image to view and one I would be proud to put my name to.
Off to look at the the other version now.

It seems to me that you spend considerable time at this spot!!!
A nice shot with good tone and nicely
restrained colour which after what we both have been putting out from here, makes for a very refreshing change.
