Wow that's really good. Now that I'm toying around with the hdr thing I can really appreciate how difficult it is to get a really good result. You've achieved it. Would love to see the replica without the boat in front of it, but I really admire your skill and love the colors in this. Great job!

Good bit of HDR work and I think the small boat in the foreground makes the shot work.

Great composition combined with good punchy colours. Love it!

Also reminds me of when I used to clamber over the Golden Hind (or a previous replica) when I was a lad on holiday in Brixham!

Some photo’s are produced with care - and this is one of them. Very nice.

Many thanks all for the c&Cs. I was worried that the dinghy dominated the shot, so thanks Ian et al. Helena, I plan to upload a closer shot of the replica vessel in the next day or so, following another Gooseberry Pie Fair piece for the woolybills Wink.

Really nice John
Really like the wealth of shapes that the boat hulls offer, and the slightly dappled sky set it off a treat!
Lovely colour overall

'My other boat's a...'
I agree with Ian, the small boat really makes this shot. It's about contrast, in size, status, angle, and it's very effective.

I think the use of the dinghy to lead the eye towards the Hind works really well although I would have cropped fractionally less tight at the sides

Thanks Johanna & Nigel. Re the crop, this is as it came out of the camera with just a bit off top & bottom. In fact I nearly chopped a bit off the dinghy! Idealy, I agree, a little more space on the right would have been nice. Thanks for your views.

Sorry John, I didn't mean to imply that the shot didn't work with the boat in front of it, because I think it really works. I just have a thing for big boats that look like they could be pirate ships and wanted to see what the whole thing looked like hehe

That's not a problem, Helena, in fact the other shot doesn't really show the replica in all its glory since the tide was out & everything looked a but scummy (probably why it did less well in the EPZ poles). I made the best of it & at least didn't get my feet wet Wink. Unfortunately there were no pirates (not even Johnny Depp) in sight!
