Wasdale from Gable

By JohnEW
Back after a session in rehab. to kick the EPZ habit (didn't work). This is Wasdale Head and Wastwater taken through breaks in the cloud from near the classic viewpoint at the Westmorland Cairn early in September. Altitude, just under 3000 ft and yes it is straight, Wastwater always looks sloping from this viewpoint! f/16 1/60s ISO220

Thought you'd abandoned us! Welcome back...
I like the contrast here between the valley bottom and the fells, they're two separate worlds. Like the heavy dark cloud too.
Looks as straight as the Lakes are ever likely to!

I like this, but I would be tempted to crop the cloud at the top.

Thanks for c&C so far. Interesting suggestion, Adam, the cloud is rather dark. However, the bright section beneath is in fact the sea, not sky, so it would mean cropping below the horizon, in effect.

Its always a superb view from here, especially of Wastwater and all the fields around Wasdale Head, and your right it does look like the lake is sloping just like the one in my portfolio Smile
