For RonnieAG and all the other brave souls who dare to break the rules!
I’m really rather fond of imperfection,
Rusty stuff and things beyond their prime,
Stuff that’s gone way past the point of perfect
Showing evidence of life and use and time.
That flake of rust, that curled up, drying petal,
That wrinkled face, that figure past it’s best,
That dog with the soft eye and greying muzzle,
All of them pass the ‘been around here’ test.
There’s charm and history within a ruin,
The antique dresser’s dents all testify
To lives and loves well lived within its lifespan,
Beneath the old cracked mirror’s seeing eye.
Perfection is a mite intimidating,
An aspiration very few achieve,
That leaves us with an awful sense of failure,
Perfection’s quite destructive I believe.
So let’s stop striving to achieve perfection,
And make imperfect quite respectable,
Lets celebrate the worn out and the damaged,
That way we’ll make the norm acceptable.

No 7 should be uploaded on its own, it is beautiful............but it is lost amongst all the others, quite a few deserve to be on their own...............IMHO........
Lynne -- what a fantastic series. Each of these would be a great solo upload. I'm loving them all.
I like some of your irregular plants-- sports if you will,
a grand collection of imperfections-- all working together with your title!
Wow Lynne, what a brilliant series and what beautiful words to go with them. Superb.
Lovely set Lynne, great composition on all.
V7 is a favourite
There is still beauty there although most are past their prime: I agree with Julia re. V 7 and the other favourites for me are V 5 and 11.
And what a selection to serve up all at once.
Absolutely superb collection.. in particular the two buttercup shots... staggering, havn't seen better of this flower....

Thought provoking words, yes we all strive for perfection, but to what avail.........great set of images.........
All are excellently presented and I think all could equally stand alone.
Lynne these are all special, this is a fantastic series and obviously took lots of time to do a special presentation like this, absolutely ingenious ..John
Dam I don't have a UA Lynne sorry. But if I had it would be yours.....John
Absolutely beautiful and I love the poem!
This is a stunning series of 'perfect ' Imperfection!!
Tremndous work!! So many could stand alone!! Super!!
Plus perfect, present indicative, Lynne, but I fear it's making you a bit tense
(ps... love those buttercups )
First let me congratulate you on your poetry and the truth of your words.
I'll be the first to admit that I'll clone out a non quite perfect part in a flower
or overhanging branch 'spoiling' an image and here you've shown us imperfect flowers
but with perfect presentations nonetheless!
V7 works so well, but I wouldn't have seen that for myself.
I love V8 with that quirky frame. V9 is a good example of not tryin gtoo hard to find a 'suitable' vase
and in V12 I'm still looking for imperfection!!!!
V8 & 10 for me as these are very different borders for you.
10 and 11 and the first one for me, v8 is also very well presented. Well actually it is the poem that gets the UA no i just can't decide
Wonderful set Lynne and all worthy of their own upload but V12 stands out for me.
The pose in v2 is special, a great set of images
A stunning set of images, Lynne, and wonderful words, superb work. Carol
How can one pick a favourite here Excellent photos Lynn - perfect in every way As far as I know we do not have these buttercup flowers in South Africa - I have never seen them before - just love the white with tinges of yellow
lovely i like v1 the best
Hi Lynne sorry I did not have a UA yesterday. I could not sleep until I made this right, I hope you dont mind. Your set was outstanding, Regards...John
How very true your words are, a superb collection Lynne and thanks for sharing.
But whose rules????????
A great set yet again....
There is a wealth of philosophy here, Lynne, and it has a strong appeal.
If you want me to choose a favourite I'll go for V5, which has other connotations of course.
W.S. Gilbert dealt with the subject in a lighter vein, in the duet between Ko-Ko and Katisha in The Mikado and elsewhere: people take some convincing but they cotton on in the end.
Lots to think about; superbly done.
Oh how I agree Lynne but I could never put it so eloquently, let alone in poetry. I love to photograph botanical grot - your words once to one of mine I think! Superb work and if I had to choose, I'd go for v7.
Well written words of wisdom, Lynne!
A veritable feast of photographic images, all thoughtfully arranged and well taken.
They are to be looked at, enjoyed and learnt from.
It's a Wow, or should I say all those are wows, Lynne you have outdone yourself today what a brilliant set of shots and what beautiful words to go with them, I have only one to say. SUPERB. Congrats on the awards with many more to come I feel.
A wonderful set, I'm not going to pick any one, because they are all equally beautiful! Great work.
I agree with your sentiments entirely Lynne. We live in a far from perfect world so why should we strive for perfection in our pics ?
I have a little theory that after spending most of my working life in the steel engineering industry, everything had to be PERFECT and with no tolerance for error. Now that I am retired, perhaps I am rebelling with my liking for all things rusty, grotty and imperfect !! And as for rules ?Well,--I certainly think they are made to be broken !!
Long live the revolution !!
fine work Lynne and a lots of it V7 stands out for me
I think some of the words in that poem could relate to me! A superb set, Lynne, and I'm with the above, and really like V7. But the whole collection deserves my UA...
You do spoil us with all these wonderful images, thank you Lynne.
What a great find and title for V1 Lynne, heading up this fine set, well done.
Amazing stuff !!!!
V3 is my choice, I enjoyed reading your prose and have enjoyed viewing the set
Brilliant set of images Lynn!!!! I love all of them! And I quite agree with you .... we too often overlook the exquisite beauty in things from "the test of time" I wish I could give a UA for each image! suberb job!
Astounding floral presentation, Lynne. No one can ask for better clarity. I feel they are right on my desk top. - Raja.
I love this collection. And beginning and ending with those beautiful buttercup shots too
I too love what's often looked at as imperfection and Joline told me of the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi which I fully embrace.
PS Ooo...not just the shot but I LOVE the frame you used in V8!
Brilliant set of images lynne - like them all very well taken and presented -very well done.....
Brilliant set Lynne and who decides what is perfection ??? Keep up the good work.
Wonderful set of images, so well presented + great imperfection poem to boot
15 votes from me.
Un trabajo maravilloso. me gusta el titulo.
A brilliant set, yet again. Love V1. Ann.
