Eddie Doherty was kind enough to let me photograph him while he was showing us around his studio a few weeks back. He started weaving around 1950 in a factory of weavers in Ardara. The factory has long since closed and now he is the last weaver in Ardara - none of his family want to take up this dying trade. He was great to talk to and absolutly loves what he does.

I worked, very briefly, in Macclesfield Silk Heritage Museum as an 'Educational Interpreter' (never worked out what one of those is LOL) - which was great to see the occasions the looms were in operation, especially as so many of my family had worked in mills on looms. Would have loved a camera then, especially given the great light available in those buildings. Excellent series.
