John, a very good attempt. There are two things that strike me. The subject just looks a fraction soft, I'm surprised tbh as your settings are pretty good - was it hand held? If so don't be afraid to up the ISO, the camera you have is more than capable of higher ISO. Also have you sharpened it? If not it may be worth applying some sharpening for the web. I tend to use smart sharpen, and do every image differently. But maybe start at say a radius of 0.4 amount 70, and adjust accordingly ( on a 1000 px image viewed at 100%).

The other point is it looks like it needs a bit of punch. Add a curves adjustment layer, and lift the line in the highlights and mid tones, click to make anchor points. But I would anchor the shadows on the line, or the dark tones will block out.

Leave that text off. Can't stop looking at it. Decent image but under exposed. That's the main problem. You needed at least half a stop more exposure. Difficult with natural history to balance ISO and quality. You should always use the lowest ISO possible, but a sharp grainy image is always better than a smooth blurred one.

Having said that, I'm not sure this is unsharp. Might benefit from a slight Smart Sharpen. Degree of sharpening depends largely on the dimensions of the image. A 5000 pixel image will take a stronger sharpen than an 800 pixel one. This doesn't look far off at this size nd a good composition.

Mod loaded, sharper, a little more contrast and feather detail.

Nice shot.
