Early Rise for an Old Man

By Johnnybairdphotography
On a 3rd consecutive morning I rose early for a sunrise trip on the Jurassic Isle of Skye. With a remarkable few days of weather, considering Skye’s famous weather pattern, I was more than eager to get out for first light. The chosen location – Loch Fada with a view of The Storr and the icon known as The Old Man of Storr (Bodach an Stoir.) As I arrived I wasn’t surprised to see several other photographers with cameras at the ready and frosty breathes. As part of the Trotternish ridge, the 719metre Storr was created by an ancient landslide and was reflected on the perfectly still Loch Fada. Every so often little wisps of mist appeared and disappeared as quickly as they had come. As first light broke the Storr and it’s 50metre high pinnacle of rock, The Old Man, were bathed in golden light.
