And there she is, the latest ADAPS Year Book, this time only taking me a day to make with Blurb books. When I say a day that was from first thing in the morning right through to evening, so a very long day! The same format was followed as previous years, with every member who subbmitted images having two in the book, plus five "Featured" members who had 5 images each.

I like to make sure there's a good selection of both old and new members so this year, we had Graham Otty, Joanne Johnson (very new), Len Hudson (very old?), Mel Barnes and Paul Jones. The front cover is by Andy Butler, known on ePHOTOzine as BydoR9. Mel Barnes does the interviews for me and shoots the "mug shots" of the featured members, so as he was chosen himself this year, his wife Gwen did the necessary in his case. Gwen has forgiven me by now (I think) for letting her name get mispelt once as Gewn in a previous edition.....sloppy proof reading!

We don't make a profit out of selling the book via Blurb, the intention is just to have a record of what the membership has been doing in any particular year. Now this is the tenth volume, we have built up quite an interesting photographic history of the club, so in future years there will be plenty of images for people to look back on.

Here's a couple from me.

The Pentax and the Butterfly

I always carry my trusty Pentax MX-1, probably the best compact camera that I have ever used. It is staggeringly useful in terms of functions, not too large or heavy and sturdily made. It also has a great lens, the SMC Pentax 8-25mm f/1.8-2.5, comple...

Historic Tyldesley - Frank's Cafe and More!

There was a cafe in this building for many years, well loved by local people and run by Frank and his wife. Eventually, of course, Frank retired and the building has been under restoration for some time now. If you look on YouTube one of the urban ex...

Historic Tyldesley - The Technical College

There is a road sign that says "Welcome to Historic Tyldesley" or something similar, and for a while we scratched our heads wondering what excatly was historic about Tyldesley. Well, slap on the hand for us, because there are plenty of things that w...

Buile Hill Greenhouse - Progress Report

We were down at Buile Hill Park in Salford today, just to see how the mansion and the Greenhouse were getting along. The mansion is under restoration at the moment, but the greenhouse was set to be demolished. This was such a wonderful place, with bi...

Always Carry a Camera

I make a point of always carrying a camera, just to capture anything and everything that catches my eye as we carry on with the minutiae of life. I was in Atherton and just heading for the shop that sells fuses and passed a small alleyway that used t...
