Most cameras now have a selection of digital filters, so being a JPEG shooter from time to time it's interesting to have a go and see what effects can be created. I've always been an admirer of the Autochrome colour images from the early 1900s. These were grainy and had a particular colour quality that is a long way from being realistic, but nevertheless can be very effective.
I used the Pentax Q and the Vintage Colour setting as a starting point, after which the final tweaks were done in Photoshop. I also added a small amount of grain in Photoshop.
And this is what I came up with:
To gain quick access to regularly used effects on the Q range, the front quick dial offers the means. Amongst others, I have black and white, vintage colour, etc. available at the turn of the dial. It's a nice feature and I particularly like the way that the dial can be programmed with the desired effects.
