Arley Hall - First Visit of the Season

5 Mar 2014 4:29PM   Views : 693 Unique : 541

Arley is one of my favourite spots for testing out new cameras and lenses and today we've had a quick trip there to renew our season ticket and have lunch. The flowers in the formal gardens are not ready to be photographed yet, but there is a new display of sculptures in the Grove. There are a few perks to buying a season tickets and one is a 10% discount in the Tudor Barn Restaurant.

So a few pictures, all shot with the Pentax MX-1.

A fine ceiling in the Tudor Barn Restaurant, but not much competition for seating today:

A pleasant couple of hours was spent in the peace and calm of Arley. We'll be back!

Historic Tyldesley - The Technical College

There is a road sign that says "Welcome to Historic Tyldesley" or something similar, and for a while we scratched our heads wondering what excatly was historic about Tyldesley. Well, slap on the hand for us, because there are plenty of things that w...

Buile Hill Greenhouse - Progress Report

We were down at Buile Hill Park in Salford today, just to see how the mansion and the Greenhouse were getting along. The mansion is under restoration at the moment, but the greenhouse was set to be demolished. This was such a wonderful place, with bi...

Always Carry a Camera

I make a point of always carrying a camera, just to capture anything and everything that catches my eye as we carry on with the minutiae of life. I was in Atherton and just heading for the shop that sells fuses and passed a small alleyway that used t...
